[ Somewhere in SE Ohio. ]

1st the new wall and gate, I’m really excited about this wall and the planting:

garden wall

[ It's great, isn't it? ]

Next I’ve been working real hard on this garden folly:

garden follies

[ You gotta like that naturalistic planting, don't you? ]

Finally, right behind the back door:

patio space

[ That new walkway really sets it off, doesn't it? ]

Well that’s about it except for one other small thing.

.

It’s a small thing.

.

Well it’s sorta a small thing.

.

All Fools DayYou do know what day it is . . . don’t you?

Well in that case

Good for you.

Did I get you?

Even for a second.

A millisecond?

Okay then . . .

Happy All Fools Day

It’s a big day for another reason as well . . . well it’s big for me anyway.bird_guiness2.gif
Meaning it’s time for this. Enjoy yourself and enjoy the day, but be careful of people patting you on the backside . . . if you know what I mean.

A note to say I have changed web-host providers for my regular web-site. This has shut down my e-mail address. I hope to have that e-mail back up and running by Monday afternoon.

If you are using G-mail I would love to hear from you about it. I am thinking of using it for all of that type of e-mail.

ETC.,

*This address will not change, I am staying here with the Blog, I like WordPress(dot)com and have been very happy with everything they have done. at this site. I am also happy with the look here. No offense to Blogger but this is the place for me. If you want to see another great example of this Cutline Theme take a look at Kathy Purdy’s blog; Cold Climate Gardening-a great read by the way.

*The Ohio State University is in the National Championship game against the Florida Gators. Let us hope the basketball championship play out better for the Buckeye’s than the BCS title game against the Gators . . . Go Bucks!

Finally . . .

On 12/20/06 I started moving my Blo over her from Blogger Beta, they have no way to upload so I am c&p all previous entries, minus the comments . . . which I am going to miss.

This is a shot I took last summer at a wholesale stone yard/quarry/fabricator in Central, Ohio. I was drawn to this stone because of it’s great color and potential to become a piece of art in the landscape. As stand alone elements or as a collection of pieces to create a “scene” in the landscape. Whether they are surrounded by plants or some sort of stone bed.

I have always liked going to stone yards and wandering through the back areas or junk piles. I just let my mind kind of wander and take in the scene. Also I look at the way the collections are piled together and think how I could turn that around and use that formation in some of my landscapes.

This is an organization that I am a founding member of, and I believe that anyone who wants to be a better Landscape Designer should become a member of. Join APLD Read the rest of this entry »

“The Knowledge is Given to the Crane from Above”

My Elevator Speech

My hope is to use this site to spread some info about the art and practice of Landscape Design. It is a very misunderstood profession; I do not cut grass like the next door neighbor's cousin who carries 3 mowers and a blower in the back of his truck. I will also pass along comments on industry happenings, events, etc., and any maybe a few other adventures going on in my world-after all this is "my" blog. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
