A Link Blitz

wci-chop-2.jpgSomething I haven’t done a lot of lately but I have run across a few links that I thought might be of interest to a reader or two, especially in light of some of the discussions I have had in the past couple of weeks.

This is a widely varied list, and for the most part they have nothing in common except they all crossed my path, and in one way, shape or other they have green about them.

  • The 1st is about a young guy who is using the web as his tool to market his landscape maintenance business. To me the importance of this is the changing of how advertising works today and into the future. Notice this guy is in Ireland.
  • In Louisville I was asked a lot of questions about examples of Blogs related ot the industry. Kathy Purdy has a Blog Directory at her site Cold Climate Gardening, it’s quite the list. if you start snooping around you may be there for awhile.
  • I had kept this blurb in Portland Architecture about the late Robert Murase and how his son Scott is continuing on with the firm’s work. It’s a nice what are they doing now kind of thing. I had the opportunity to meet Robert Murase at a couple of Stone Foundation Conferences, and found him to be bright, motivated, and energized by the future and excited by some events he had planned. He will be missed by all those he touched.
  • San Luis Video Publishing has released a series od DVD’s on Landscape Design Principles, Landscape Principles, Sustainability, Pruning, etc. Are they any good . . . I don’t know? I’m not endorsing them, and I haven’t seen them either. I’m just going to point them out. I get all kinds of e-mails where people are hungry for information-starving for good information. If anyone buys any of these let us know.
  • The problems in Seirra Leone are beyond my intellectual capacity to describe. Simply put I am thankful I was not born there . . . plain and simple . . . I am very lucky. In even such dire circumstances Landscape Design lives. It lives to improve the quality of space, and adds to the enjoyment of being in a particular place. I found ths plan for a Health clinic and I hope it happens. More about the Global Action Foundation.

  1. Just want you to know that my son is building the Center for the War Wounded in Kono. The landscape design you found is by Sarif Eas mondura of the United Kingdom. If you want more information, feel free to email me at kathy@jkdskelly.com Thanks for finding us.

Good for you son, I appreciate the effort to create some peace, beauty, and harmony in a place where so much is so wrong. Good luck to your son, and if there is any other way to help/publicize let me know.

They should send me pics, so I can post them here and send them to others.
