The Tolstoy of Bloggers

wci-chop-2.jpgA brief interlude in the World of Landscape Design to talk about blogging. I have been very pleased to find this marvelous way of communicating with others-literally around the World. I have always looked for ways to share the things I have learned, and to pass on some of my philosophy on Landscape Design

Since I have started blogging I’ve not regretted one minute of it, and never dread “posting”. If I got something on my mind, or come across something, or am in a series . . . I let it unfold to what readers/subscribers I have, never feeling the pressure to write. I do no understand those post where Bloggers talk about not wanting to blog-just don’t blog!

“Where else could I ramble on about spire, privet, burning bush, and juniper”

I have(and will continue) to focus on the profession of Landscape Design(and related matters), is it important to do so-only in the sense that someone finds my information relevant to what they do. Save them time, steps, processes, headaches, or design heartaches.

Looking back I see that I have developed a pattern of 400-600 words or so. The few Blogs I read on a regular basis are around there except for 2.

One is Seth Godin’s Blog on business/marketing/living life(my words)-short, and to the point, and the other is(more in a moment) often long, sometimes very long. Anyway . . .

Expect more from me, including:

  • Shrubs we do Not Like
  • Worst of the Worst shrubs
  • Best Trees under 20 feet
  • Best Big Trees
  • Shrubs we like . . . a lot
  • Best Shrubs, a vote will be set up
  • Graphics . . . plenty more to come. There is a lot of searching for presentation graphics, renderings, plan view. I will try to help out with examples, and real life case studies-when they allow for . . .
  • Pergola’s; information on designing and building

For those of you in the trade who e-mail me with questions, keep them coming. I will continue to answer in as timely a manner as possible.

Finally

sandstone head The reason for the post. There is a guy out there writing a Blog who has slammed head-long into his life’s work . . . whether he realizes it yet or not. Funny-sometimes hysterical, rambling, stumbling, bumbling, journeys through the Twilight Zone of his life.

Sometimes these post are epic adventures tying in the most unbelievable of characters, events, places, and objects creating weaving flying carpet of nuttiness. Real life adventures(recent turns with the new neighbors) so wacky at times if they’re not true . . . it’s a good story anyway(for my money I think they’re true.

Do yourself a favor go read about Lilac theft, and while your there read some more, but be warned you may be there a looooong time ’cause the County Clerk the Tolstoy of Bloggers will grab your attention.

ADDENDUM June 6th, 2013

I checked the links for the County Clerk and the links are not only dead, the Blog is gone-completely. What a shame, there was some great writing there. Not only entertaining but informative as hell, and I do mean informative.

How sad. I wish I would have C&P’d a lot of those posts. I hope the Clerk kept them. For us, they appear lost forever.

  1. I am flattered and complimented. What I lack on knowledge and experience (the reason I visit here) I try to make up in context.
Keep doing what you are doing here! And thank you.

Hey, no problem, I call ’em, as I see ’em
