Do Politics matter?

Most Landscape Designers are either small business owners or self-employed, at least from where I sit and the designers I know.

Choices to be made aside, have you been following the conventions and do any of you think that what happens on the national level affects our business, or our opportunities?

Does it matter which side controls the Presidency to small business owners. Or do we need to look more at Congress or what happens on the State level?

One other thing

Is ther opportunity in the housing crisis?

On the ANLA list-serve the question is being asked if there are opportunites revitilizing negelected and foreclosed properties. Are any of you seeing that come up?

  1. Hell YES!!! it makes a difference.
Small business is going to be taxed right out of business with Barack & Biden
There is NO WAY on earth they can fund their programs without raising taxes, and it doesn’t take an rocket scientist to see their total disdain for business, in general
Yes, in a perfect world, we wouldn’t be voting for either of these candidates, but this is the hand we have been dealt

    I am just glad I am 60…and not 30.
Yeah. You have a good weekend, too.

  2. Yes, politics matter. Always and in every facet of life. Landscape design of both residential and commercial properties is highly connected with how much money people and industry has, taxes resulting when they choose to make improvement of their property, laws secured about variances, local policies of the importance/priority of infrastructure (business won’t be in the mindset to improve their land if the bridges or roads won’t bring enough traffic), what effect climate changes have on an area determines the kind of products you can consider, even the cost of college education and licenses needed to become a landscape designer and the insurance / malpractise insurance you have to carry.
