Super Bowl Thoughts

No landscaping here.

Well I must say it was a pretty entertaining game until the Manning interception, when the writing went onto the wall and the New Orleans Saints were to soon be the Champs of the NFL.

Fun to watch, well-played and I enjoy the energy, passion and professionalism at such a high level of competition.

Commercials

On the other hand a big let down were the highly touted Super Bowl commercials.

I am amazed that companies would spend so much money to promote their products in such a lackluster fashion. Some real yawners.

The winner for me?

The winner for me had to be the Dorito commercial with the shocking dog collar. I think that was the funniest commercial of the game. After that, not much else really stuck out for me.

I thought the Beer and soda commercials were really weak, really weak.

After that, I am not even sure what else was on there, oh yeah GoDaddy.com, probably sure there was some traffic directed to the site after the commercials. No I haven’t been there yet!

Halftime

I would be leaving a poor review of the Super Bowl without some sort of comment about the halftime show.

Hmmm, where to start with the Who’s performance.

I gotta admit I was a little surprised when I heard the Who were performing at halftime. If I remember I was like . . . “oh no, not another tired bunch of former stars playing out the string”.

So out they come and I’m thinking Daltrey is starting a little slow, but it looks like Pete(that’s Pete Townsend) is doing okay. For me the weirdest part was seeing 60+ year old guys singing Teenage Wasteland, but they picked it up and held their own . . . I think.

Bottom line for me is that here are some guys at an age when most guys their age are in recliners or thinking about their recliners and just parking on their ass, collecting retirement. Not these guys; for them, it’s about performing, playing music and having a good time.

Good for them, and in this case an inspiration for the rest of us that we can perform at a high level even when most folks are thinking about collecting checks. Good for Pete and Roger.

Okay that’s all I got, the season is over, and the New Orleans Saints are champions of the World.
